We sat around, in our Sunday lounge-wear, at Jesse Belle-Jones' home. This is where we created our first vision board for the Inheritance production this October. Each of us journaled about what this show meant to us, why we wanted to put on this show, what was unique and special about it, and what this work of art represented to us. Here are two highlights from that conversation:
"This show is my...responsibility; choice; way of seeing and being seen; my way of creating the change I want to see in the world by being that change; sexual and spiritual revolution; space to rebel, feel power, celebrate, make art, have community dialogue; opportunity to be a role model for other women who will experience empowerment simply by watching me enact and create my own liberation."
"This show represents the prototype and creation of a world where feminism is the (default, norm, standard, accustomed, conventional, endorsed, time-honored, universal, unopposed, preferred, customary, established, etc.) way of being. This show is our will and testament for the world describing what we hope it will inherit from us. It is a collection of modern folklore engaging the audiences and communities in the most important dialogue of the century. It is the transformation from what we inherited at birth to what we want future women to inherit."
