Something you may not know is that each act we've created is deeply personal to us. Throughout our process we called upon our real life experiences and used the real inheritances we've received. Each act is inspired by a challenge we've face, a person we know, a family member or a friend. The show includes actual pieces of inheritance that have been passed down to us from our mothers and grandmothers. Each act, each story, each choreographed movement was created near and dear to our heart.
Doña gathered inspiration for her 'Shadow' piece through studying depth psychology in graduate school. The choreography is inspired by own process of what it has been like to integrate her shadow self. She talks about it here.
Diva talks here about her 'Mother Ritual' piece, a poem she wrote in college for her mom as a mother's day gift. It is a celebration of her mother and all mothers.
Nikola shares how the stories she was taught influenced how she grew into being a sexual person. She is a big proponent of sex education that includes more than a biological overview. Hear her share her thoughts here.
