Our goal with our NON-burlesque, Summer Series shows has been to create intergenerational dialogue, to create a platform for women to show their creative work, and to empower women in ALL phases of their lives to have their voices and truth heard. On the evening of September 4th, each performer took to The Vera Project stage and became apart of the movement and legacy of Inheritance. I saw each performer living in their aliveness and radical authenticity within their unique flavor of their chosen medium, and the beauty of the inevitable ripple effect of their work is truly inspiring.
In the post-show talk-back where the audience was give an opportunity to ask the performers question. At one point the question was posed “What advice would you give to other girls?”
These were just a few of the inspirational responses from the performers:
“Do what gives you joy!”
“Don’t let anything hold you back, even when working in industries that are driven by men, persevere”
“Don’t be fake, even though that is what main-stream media is telling you to be”
