We sat around, in our Sunday lounge-wear, at Jesse Belle-Jones' home. This is where we created our first vision board for the Inheritance production. Each of us journaled about the following questions:
What did this show meant to me?
Why do I want to put on this show?
What was unique and special about Inheritance?
What did this work of art represented to me?
Here are some highlights from that conversation:
"This show is my...responsibility.
It represents the choice we have in our inheritance.
It is a way of seeing and being seen.
It's a sexual and spiritual revolution... a space to rebel, to feel power, to celebrate, to make art, and to have community dialogue.
It's an opportunity to be a role model for other women who will experience empowerment simply by watching me enact and create my own liberation."
"This show represents the prototype and creation of a world where feminism is the (default, norm, standard, accustomed, conventional, endorsed, time-honored, universal, unopposed, preferred, customary, established, etc.) way of being.
This show is our will and testament for the world describing what we hope it will inherit from us.
It is a collection of modern folklore engaging the audiences and communities in the most important dialogue of the century.
It is the transformation from what we inherited at birth to what we want future women to inherit."
We hope to see you this Valentine's Day at the Women of Wisdom Conference.
