Most celebrities, politicians and otherwise public figures spend substantial amounts of money to cover up their past of deep dark secrets. Not us! We want to lay all of our very super special feelings out on the table (uh, stage) for you to relish with us.
That's right, an outstanding cast of Seattle's superhero performers will not only be sharing their most intimate moments with you, but will actually be READING FROM THEIR CHILDHOOD DIARIES!!!!!!! As if that wasn't enough, they will be paired with another local phenom who will improv interpret their private journals through dance! I know, it is too good to be true. It's like your angsty youth has a private dancer!
Sinner Saint's signature fundraiser: The Very Super Special Feelings Show, is styled after the Salon Of Shame, in which we invite our BurlyQ besties to come read their old stories, diaries, and journal entries - but we add a cabaret twist. Each poignant, embarrassing, hilarious, and very revealing reader is accompanied by an improvised burlesque routine - they don't know what will be read until they hit the stage. It's experimental strip tease art full of strange and very personal moments. We are all very excited and terrified to share it with our friends, family, and fans! This is no regular burlesque show! It is most definitely something you have never seen before, and will never see again!
This incarnation the regular Sinner Saint crew is joined by fantastic friends and guests Adra Boo, Billy Scream, EmpeROAR Fabulous, Heidi Van Haught, Paul Phillion, Randi Rascal, Sailor St. Claire (who is also a core cast member of Inheritance), and Trojan Original!
What is Sinner Saint Burlesque raising money for, you ask? This year's Very Special Feelings Show is the kick-off for a fundraising and marketing campaign to support, "Inheritance: Maiden, Mother, Crone: Maiden, Mother, Crone", a theatrical work coming October 2014, produced in association with Theatre Off Jackson. The show's aim is to examine the archetypes, roles, stereotypes, passions, joys, and successes of the cycles of women's lives - what we've inherited, what we'd like to change, and what our legacies will be. Ultimately, "Inheritance: Maiden, Mother, Crone" presents Sinner Saint Burlesque's will and testament, the legacy we hope the world will inherit from us. We aim to prototype a world where feminism, wholeness, health and celebrating experiences of women are customary, practiced by default, conventional, universal and simply THE unquestioned way of being.
Sinner Saint Burlesque would like to invite our whole community to take part in the Inheritance movement. Please stay tuned as we continue to build momentum with a website for the show in which we invite folks to share what they've inherited and what impressions they'd like to leave in this world. We are also producing a trio of shows this summer in which we will be reaching outside of the burlesque community to showcase art from women who identify or work with the stages of life Maiden, Mother, or Crone. We are currently calling for all kinds of proposals to get involved with these events. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more details!
