We are Sinner Saint Burlesque. We are NOT producing a burlesque show.
Doña Dei Cuori explains. Here is why...
Reason # 1... Strip tease is a means, not an ends.
As neoburlesque artists we see striptease as a means, not an end. Sinner Saint's philosophy is that burlesque empowers women to use their bodies to tell a personal story, challenge the internalized and institutionalized political landscape, manifest musical works of art, evoke joy, embrace sexuality, and to educate audiences in an engaging, humorous and deeply intentional way.
We recognize however, that there are many art forms that women use to feel empowered and liberated. This means we have to be willing to speak in other artistic languages, and need to showcase all the forms of art that help women find strength and solidarity.
This is what our Summer Series is about. The Summer Series productions are three unique community productions aimed at providing a spotlight on local artists, and promoting community connection. Sinner Saint is your host for our Summer Series exploring female mythology and archetypes in which we showcase the art, talent, passions and legacy of women in the Pacific Northwest and Seattle area. Expect to see dance, poetry, painting, singing, storytelling, education and advocacy. Get ready to engage with local artists and audiences and start a conversation about how art impacts you. There will even be an opportunity to participate in an auction of local female artists' work! But that is not all! You will also get to see a sneak preview of what Sinner Saint is preparing for our full-length production at Theatre Off Jackson in October 2014.
Get tickets for the Summer Series Crone Show, August 14th and explore the art and talents of women exploring the archetype and wisdom of the Crone.
